What is Vino Nuevo?

We are a diverse Catholic community that seeks to be loving, caring and concerned for all those who feel excluded.  From the view of “Diversity” ,Vino Nuevo understands God’s love to be toward ALL people, without regard to sexual orientation.  We are not a ¨cure¨ group for gays and lesbians.  We believe deeply that the love that God, Jesus  has for each one of us doesn´t change just because a person is gay, lesbian, transsexual, transvestite or transgendered. We are organized into groups (liturgy, retreat, communications, finance, networking).  The 5 group coordinators meet once a week to plan and evaluate activities

 How did it start?

Our Community started when some of us (who felt and continue to feel a liberating  experience of the God of Jesus Christ) wanted respond to the Church’s  exclusion of gays and lesbians by creating a model for Catholic Pastoral Care from the standpoint of Diversity.

Nuestros Objetivos

  • Deepen our liberating experience of the God of Jesus Christ.
  •  Systematize and evangelize (understanding evangelize to mean the transformation of the image of God as punisher to a God who loves unconditionally) this experience using the tools of present day theology and in line with the purpose of Jesus of Nazareth.
  • To live this experience through a healthy relationship with God, ourselves and with others.To live this experience through a healthy relationship with God, ourselves and with others.
  • To witness and proclaim this experience to other people who have been made to feel far from God by the official doctrine of the church.
  • Celebrate this experience of God with a lively, warm and participative liturgy.
  • Network with other organizations to share our vision of faith through collaboration in the struggle for gay and lesbian rights.
